  1. Train-o-Rama 49 ESU Install

    To install your sound decoder in the 49 you will have to start by removing the shell, there are number of lugs retaining the shell using a jewellers screwdriver lift one corner of the shell and lever up each lug till it is free, once you have run around the premier of the shell it should look like the photo of the red 49, simply lift up the body shell and place to one side, we will have to remove the crew for modification if they are to be reinstalled.
    Remove the DC adaptor and next identify the speakers wires, these are the red and black wires attached to the first two lugs marked "spk" on the board, remove these from the board and de solder from the speaker, you can also just coil up on the existing speaker and tape down as we will NOT be using this speaker.

     49 install

    49 install

    Note lug positions on shell and walkway

     Next locate the speaker wires from the decoder to the speaker and trim and solder to the speaker tab on the factory board.

     49 install

    Pass the two wires thru the 1.0 mm hole in the speaker, seal the speaker into the enclosure using Liquid PVC or PVA. Locate the wire with the two pin plug, bare the wires, tin and solder to the speaker now mark the plug with the felt pen for the wire attached to the speaker with the black dot.

     49 install

    Apply a bead of thickened super glue around inside rim of the speaker and fix as shown, then apply a bead of liquid PVD or PVA to the opening to fir the black lug on the speaker.

  4. NCE DB5 Dumb Booster

    * The DB5 Dumb Booster expands the Smart Booster
    * Can be used with an NCE Pro but the PB5 is better suited to that system and is recommended by the MRRC.

    DB5 specification:

    * Peak Output Current: 5.0 Amps - 3.5 Amps continuous
    * Power supply: DC supplied with AU plug
    * Short circuit handling: Auto-shutdown [500mS]
    * Output voltage: Factory set
    The DB5 can only be left on a short or overload for a maximum of 2 - 3 minutes. To ensure that the system is protected for a longer period all Australian supplied systems will have an EB1 circuit breaker supplied set to 2.5 amps.

    The maximum amps permitted is 3.5 per EB1.

  7. Micro Singlet Servo Decoder

    The singlet has a baby brother, the Micro Singlet. It is a simple servo decoder designed to drive turnouts and only turnouts. It solves the problem of servo buzzing by turning the servo off at the end of the throw. Special circuitry and programming has been built in to accomplish this without a large jerk at restart.

    Micro Singlet - designed exclusively to control turnouts with DCC or a pushbutton. Simpler than the classic Singlet it is designed only for turnouts.

    Designed exclusively for switching turnouts with a servo

    No buzzing! - servo turns off at end of throw
    Simpler setup - center the servo and mount - no alignment needed
    Switch with DCC or the included fascia controller
    Teach the DCC address with a jumper - no CVs to program

  8. Miniature Servo Motor (SG90)

    Sub-miniature 9g servo.  These have plenty of power for hinged point turnouts and smaller rail (code 55 and smaller) solid point turnouts - when used with the servo mounting kit (SMK002 below) then it can handle higher loads, up to code 100 non-hinged rail.  If the point rails are hinged then the rail size is not an issue - it has been used up to G scale. Our servo brackets (see below) are custom made to fit these servos. Size 1.25" wide (including mounting tabs) x 0.5" deep x 1.125" tall.  Servo lead about 7".  The label on the servo and the lead colors may vary between batches.  Works with all of our boards.

    Note: The current demand from the decoders are 0.1 amps. On a DCC layout the addition of a additional booster for a large number will require the additional booster.

  9. In-Line Servo Reverser

    Reverse your servo throw direction by turning it around or reversing the servo linkage. Sometimes there just isn't room under a turnout to do this.  You can't reverse the servo direction by swapping wires since servos work by varying the pulse width and reversing the wires will just disconnect the servo.  In cases where you want to reverse the servo rotation direction, this servo reverser comes in handy.  If you put this in line with the servo it will swap the two ends about the center.  [It works by mirroring the pulse around 1.5 ms which is the center on a servo.  I.e. if a 2 ms pulse is input, the reverser will output 1 ms and if a 1 ms pulse is input it will output a 2ms pulse.]

  10. 12" Y-cord

    Y cables are used to attach two servos to one output.  Both servos will move in the same manner at the same time.  Could be used, for example, to control a crossover or a passing siding.  Does not affect the servo power.  The Y can can also be used with the fascia controllers for the Quad-Pic to provide two control points for one switch.  Use one for a pair of servos and one for a controller at the same time and you can set up a passing siding with control points at both ends!
